When Victoria passed the Education Act 1872, it ushered in the first free and secular education to Australian parents.  This Act also introduced the idea of parental choice in education.  Today the concept of choice is well embedded in Western Australia with some 159 independent schools, 163 Catholic schools, and State schools to choose from.  The choice for parents is daunting, even more so when looking at the even larger number of pre-school options.

Generally, parents will make a choice based upon practicality, which includes affordability and location, ethos or beliefs about the role of education, and from their own experience as students.  For most parents, interfacing with a school for their child will be their first experience since graduation from school themselves.  Choosing a school for their children, especially the first-born, can be a nerve-wracking experience.

All good schools are inclusive and attempt to meet the diverse needs of students and their parents within their ethos.  Treetops Montessori School is built upon the very broad foundation of Montessori education which places the child at the centre of the learning process.  Working with a child’s innate desire to learn, educational opportunities and experiences are created to foster a life-long love of learning.  Our ethos embodies these beliefs:

With our very flexible approach to education, Treetops sits between traditional education models and a home-schooled, personalised educational approach.  We can enrol students of any school age, and at any stage in their educational journey, to continue to progress their education.

In Senior Secondary, Treetops offers pathways for both direct entry to university from school as well as diverse vocational education options.  Our small class sizes provide personalised tuition for students as we work with them and their families to realise their hopes and plans for the future.

Treetops also provides a unique gateway to previously home-schooled students to access diverse and complex education opportunities otherwise not readily available to them.
